Fillings
Dental fillings are restorative materials used to repair teeth that have been damaged by decay or cavities. By removing the decayed portion of the tooth and filling the resulting void with a biocompatible material such as composite resin. Fillings restore the tooth’s function, strength, and aesthetics.
Dental Fillings
A dental filling serves to remedy a cavity (a dental void resulting from tooth decay) or other forms of harm such as a fractured tooth.
As time passes, cavities expand, hence early identification and filling reduce the likelihood of future issues. Thus, routine check-ups are essential.
Untreated, a cavity or fractured tooth can lead to toothaches, halitosis, infection, or even the fracturing or loss of a tooth.
How do you know if you require a filling?
There are various reasons why you might require a tooth filling. Sometimes, a cavity can develop in your tooth without any noticeable symptoms. However, you might start feeling sensitivity when consuming extremely hot or cold beverages and foods, like ice cream. Additionally, you may begin to experience a toothache that worsens over time, making it challenging to bite or chew. Other signs may include pain and swelling in your gums. While taking over-the-counter painkillers temporarily alleviates the discomfort (opt for those suitable for headaches), it’s crucial to schedule an appointment with us promptly.

CompoSite Fillings:
Composite or synthetic white fillings are highly sought-after for their natural appearance and durability. Typically, they last for around five years.
Gold Fillings:
Gold fillings are renowned for their strength and resilience, often lasting between 10 to 15 years, and in some cases, even longer.
Porcelain Fillings:
Designed for the back molars subject to strong chewing pressure, porcelain fillings are highly durable and can last for over 20 years due to their exceptional strength and resistance to wear.
We have discontinued the use of amalgam fillings. Instead, we remove existing amalgam fillings and replace them with composite fillings.
